19-Year-Old from British Columbia Dies After Dingo Attack on Australia’s K’gari Island

A 19-year old woman Piper James from British Columbia died in a tragic incident in Australia, when she was on a solo trip. According to coroners' report, a herd of dingoes attacked her when she was at K'Gari Island and compelled her to go into the water and then she drowned during an early morning swim.  As a result, the authorities decided to euthanize six of the dingoes that made up the attacking group. This attack is the first dingo attack fatality on the island since 2001.
